This rigorous style of yoga synchronizes breath with movement through an active sequence of sun salutations and postures. The continuous flow, with emphasis on proper alignment, deepens breathing, increases endurance, and will help you find the edge of your balance and flexibility. We recommend having some prior yoga experience before entering into a vinyasa class for the first time.
Slow Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa yoga or postures that flow from one to the next with the breath. This class will progress at a slower pace allowing students to settle into postures before moving to the next. Burn away impurities and gain awareness of your mind and body through the postures and transitions. Using breath, bandhas, and slow flowing movements you will ignite the inner fire. The slower pace will allow isometric engagement of the muscle and is evidence you are building strength and stamina. All levels.
Slow practice with postures held for 2-5 minutes. Directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues. It targets the connective tissues such as ligaments and joints of the body that are normally not exercised much. This class actively strengthens and allows opening and flexibility of the hips, pelvis, low spine, and release of bound or tight muscles and connective tissues. All levels.
Utilize the ballet barre to find your inner and outer strength as you engage muscles in a unique and amazing way. Class varies every time and will encourage students to engage smaller stabilizing muscles to achieve greater balance, tighten, and tone. Barefoot class that begins with bodyweight only exercises in high repetitions, and advances to lower repetitions while adding light weights to build and tone long lean muscles. Station Style format allows for one on one coaching and personal accountability. Isometric balance work targets core, and mixing in pilates-style floor work with strength work gives a full body burn. Very light cardio, on occasion, but moderate intensity and low impact. Yes, there will be pushups. Bring a friend for partner challenges.
